Managing Device Custom Fields

Josys provides you the flexibility to add custom device fields for your devices in addition to the pre-defined fields easily.

Creating Device Custom Fields

Step 1: Log in to the Josys portal using your Josys credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Settings on the left menu and select Device Custom Fields.

Step 3: Click the Add button.

Step 4: In the New Custom Field dialog, enter the custom field details such as:

a. Custom Field Name: Enter a name that you want to give to this custom field.

b. Type: Josys offers five types of custom fields such as:

• Text: You can specify the number of rows to display the text. 

• Number: With this option, you will be able to enter numeric values ranging from -999,999,999,999,999 to 999,999,999,999,999.
• Dropdown: You can define multiple options to choose from. To add options, click Add an option and enter the value in the text field. To remove an option, click X next to it and to change the order of display, click
       

• Date: The Date option allows you to enter the dates between 1990/01/01 and 2100/01/01.
• Price: Select this option to enter and manage price. 

c: Hint: You can give a hint to the users on what values to enter based on the type selected in the previous field.

d: Required: Make a field mandatory by dragging the toggle to the right. By default, the field is optional.

Step 5: Click Add. 

You can view and manage the device custom fields from Devices>>Customize Columns.

Editing and Deleting the Device Custom Fields

You can modify or delete the details of the device's custom fields. To do so:

Step 1: Go to the custom device field that you would like to edit or delete.

Step 2: Click the Kebab icon (three dots icon) and select Edit to modify the details or Delete to remove the details. 

• When you click Edit, the following screen appears. Make the necessary changes and click Save.

• When you click Delete, a confirmation message appears where you need to confirm the action and click Delete. All the associated values to this custom field will be removed from the device data

Reordering the Device Custom Fields

You can reorder the column positioning. To do so:

Step 1: Click Customize Rows.

Step 2: Select the drag handles (6 dots) and move up/down. Click Save.
